This workshop is intended for advanced practitioners: bonsai enthusiasts who already have a solid foundation and want to work on their own trees.
Have you always wanted to learn more about candle pruning in pines or defoliation in deciduous trees? In this workshop, we dive deeper into summer pruning for both deciduous and coniferous species, including species-specific techniques.
We will cover, among other things:
• Which deciduous trees can be cut back in June, and to what extent.
• Which species are suitable for defoliation and what this technique looks like for each species.
• The complete technique of candle pruning for various pine species.
• How summer pruning contributes to balance and energy distribution within the tree.
• Aftercare for bonsai following these techniques.
Bring one large bonsai or several smaller ones to apply the techniques directly in practice. Suitable species include pine, Acer buergerianum, beech, and others.
